Gastonia – Betty Ford Senetta, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13th at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Gaston County on June 4, 1931 to the late Larkin Alexander Ford and Hattie Pendleton Ford. Betty's father passed when she was 18 months old. When she was 5 years old, her mother married Ben Merritt. He was a wonderful father and grandfather!
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Vincent Senetta and brother, Marvin Ford.
Betty was a member of East Baptist Church where she was involved with various responsibilities throughout the church over the last 50 years. She was a graduate of Ashley High School and Evans Business College. Betty worked in the Finance Department for A.B. Carter, Inc. where she retired after 47 years of dedicated service. She loved spending time with her family! Betty was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed!
Left to cherish her memories includes her children; daughter, Carla Ford Winters (John) and son, James Everette Ford, Jr.; her grandchildren; Aubrey W. Overman (Rodney); Alisha Cann (Lane) and Anna Winters; great grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Overman and Ella Merritt Cann.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 pm, Sunday, December 16th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 17th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Parker officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with the releasing of the doves.
