Gastonia – Betty Jo Simmons Clinton went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 25, 2013.
She was born June 7th in Gaston County, daughter of the late William Bryant Simmons and Nellie Sue Barnett Simmons.
Betty was a member of West Franklin Avenue Baptist Church where she loved to play the piano and sing. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Betty served her community for over 28 years, working in the Gaston County District Attorney's Office.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ernest, Tater and Bryant Simmons; and sisters, Carolyn Simmons and Sandra S. Adams.
She is survived by her son Mason Clinton and wife Kim; daughter Debbie Bell Holcombe, stepson Paul Clinton, Jr., step daughters Renee Clinton and Teresa Ann Clinton; sisters Beverly Stroupe, Billie Taylor and Cathy Thompson and husband Steve; grandchildren, Jerry Posey and wife Amber, Sarah Kearley and husband Jerry, Josh Posey and Nickolas Clinton; great-granddaughter, Haiden Posey.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 – 2:00 pm prior tothe service.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday October 30, 2013 at West Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeff Taylor and Rev. Jeff Williams officiating.
Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves
