Gastonia- Betty Devine Holt, 86, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on April 7, 1928 to the late Herschel Otis and Althea Bridges DeVine. She was united in marriage to Jack Randolph Holt on March 27, 1953 in Spartanburg, SC. He preceded her in death September 26, 2002.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, a son Joseph Randolph Holt and her brother, Herschel Auburn DeVine.
Betty retired from Adidas in 1996. She was very active in her church, Providence Presbyterian, serving as a Stephen's Minister, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity of Gastonia. When her children were young she was very active in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts in Spartanburg, SC.
Survivors include her children Janice Czvornyek and husband, Gary of Mount Laurel, NJ; Jennifer Purdee and husband Eric, of Gastonia, NC; (6) loving grandchildren and (2) great grandchildren; Chris Czvornyek and wife Laura; Matt Czvornyek, Don Holt, Jacqueline Anderson, Brandon Purdee, Megan Purdee, Colby Anderson and Penny Czvornyek and her brother, Ira McPherson DeVine.
A Celebration Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Providence Presbyterian Church, 2850 Union Road, Gastonia, NC with Reverend Harper Price officiating. Interment will be private.
