Gastonia – Bessie Branton Biggerstaff, 84, passed away peacefully September 11, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Gaston County, on February 25, 1930 to the late James Luther and Ollie Mae Laws Branton. Mrs. Biggerstaff was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was very devoted to her family, they were her life, she attended Riverside Baptist Church. Mrs. Biggerstaff retired from textiles and later worked and retired again from Woodlawn Haven Nursing Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John William Biggerstaff;
granddaughter, April Rene McDonald, brother, Robert Eugene Branton; sister, Violet Palmer
Survivors include her children; Cathy Jordan and husband Mike; James William Biggerstaff and wife Patti both of Gastonia, Nancy Robinson and husband Doug of Cramerton; Lynn Putnam and husband Dennis of Blacksburg, SC; Randy Biggerstaff of Cramerton; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great children; her twin sister Lessie Henderson and Nellie Murphy.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm Sunday prior to the Celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, September 14th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Allen Lefler officiating
Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves
Pallbearers: James Biggerstaff, Randy Biggerstaff, Aron Jordan, Aaron Harwell, David Leathco, Charles Heafner, Jr.
