Beatrice Farmer Gaines

Smyrna – Beatrice Farmer Gaines, 94, passed away on September 26, 2022 with her family by her side.

She was born in Gaston County on November 30, 1927 to the late Frazier and Cora Lee Thomas. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie Farmer; her second husband, Hershell Gaines; sons, Hewey Farmer and Barry Farmer; and her brothers, Jerry, Haskell, Irving, Charles, and Ray.

Beatrice worked for many years in the textile industry. She loved cooking and hosting her friends and family in her home. Beatrice leaves many happy memories to be cherished by her friends and family.

Beatrice is survived by her son, Keith Farmer (Robin); daughters, Jackie Hogan (Jack) and Sheri Lynn Davis (Harvey); brothers Tommy Thomas and Carroll Thomas; sisters, Betty Faye Oaks and Jenelle Heafner; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday October 9, 2022 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Program, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington NC 28401 and West Cramerton Baptist Church 5006 Wilkinson Blvd. Gastonia NC 28056.
