Barbara "Jerri" Brown Daniel

Barbara "Jerri" Brown Daniel, a cherished member of the community, passed away from a long-extended illness on August 5, 2024, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC. She was born on February 10, 1943, in Chester County to the late Earnest Marion Brown and Rosa Lee Coleman Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael L Daniel, and a brother, Marion Lee Brown.

Jerri was known for her love and devotion to her church and family. Throughout her life, she had a career as an organist at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church for many years. Additionally, she lent her skills to Gaston County Media. Jerri attended Monticello High School and was a graduate of Winnsboro High School and later undertook nursing classes at Gaston College. Jerri loved music and spending time with her many special cats. She also enjoyed bird watching and working with her flowers outside. 

Described as a devoted and loving mother to her only son, Michael L Daniel, who passed away in 2001, and a supportive wife to Ellis L. Daniel for 63 years, Jerri touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.

 She is survived by her husband of 63 years Ellis; special niece Rose Mary Grant (Rick); special nephew James "Buddy" Brown (Kim); other wonderful nieces Cindy Long (Dean), Sherry Sease; longtime friend Teresa Tolbert (Tot); and numerous other friends who were touched by her warmth.

Jerri will be remembered during visitation hours at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation in Gastonia on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Reverend Charles Ledford officiating. Interment will take place at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery in Dallas.

Jerri's legacy of love and devotion will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
