Gastonia – Aretha Marr Payne, 66, passed away peacefully on February 10th at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born in Gaston County, on October 30, 1952 to the late Hoyt and Sarah Marie Stewart Marr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Ronnie Lee Payne, who died on March 19, 2018; and her brother, Randall Eugene Marr.
Aretha retired from AB Carter with over 18 years of service. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her dogs, Maggie and Murphy. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed…
Left to cherish her memories includes her children, Jada (Doug) Cron, Jackie (Kevin) Berryman, Jessica Payne and Todd Lee Payne: grandchildren, Spencer and Sarah Cron, Corbin and Keaton Berryman, Kelly and Christopher Payne: great grandson, Jaxon Brown; sister, Mollie Marr; brothers, Donnie Marr
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 13th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home, 291
