Andy Anders
1949 - 2018
Gastonia – Galen Phillips (Andy) Anders, 68 passed away on January 14, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center, Main with his loving family by his side.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18th at United Baptist Church, 1970 Lowell Bethesda Road with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ray Pennell officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Hillcrest 2 ext. section with full military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
He was born in Cadillac, Michigan on September 28, 1949 to the late Elmer and Audrey Greenhalgh Anders. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Kathy Nelson, brother Gary Anders and his grandmother, Molly Greenhalgh.
Andy served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the American Legion Post 144. Andy was a member of United Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon; and enjoyed the many Mission trips and his Brotherhood group at church.
He retired from Westinghouse Electrical Corp with over 28 years of dedicated services. Andy loved taking care of his grand dogs and the many road trips.
Left to cherish his memories includes his loving wife Lila Frazier Anders, his son Chad P. Anders; sister, Kay Coulter (Mike) and mother-in-law Genevieve Owenby Frazier; his two wonderful dachshund grand dogs, Winnie and Riley; and his many work friends and family at Will's Store, Belmont Kangaroo Store and the many police officers.
