Gastonia- Alvin Paris Smith, 68, 725 Elam Street, passed away peacefully September 16, 2010 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Gaston County, born September 15, 1942 , son of the late Belton Ray and Nina Moses Smith.
Alvin was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army, and was a bus driver for many years for American Charter. He was a fan of sports of all types, but especially loved the Atlanta Braves and loved to play golf. Alvin had many special friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents
Survivors include his children: Tammy Farmer of Lincolnton, Marty Smith of Kings Mt., Susie Smith and Shawn Smith of Gastonia, Wendy Smith of Lincolnton; Brothers: Verlon 'Buddy' Smith and Terry Houston Smith; Sister, Darlene S Clark
Six grandchildren and Six great grandchildren
A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 pm Monday, September 20, 2010 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Smith officiating
The family will receive friends 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Hope section with Military honors
