Gastonia - Alvin Eugene Earney, 83 passed away on September 21, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Gaston County on April 17, 1934 to the late Dollie Strandridge Earney and Frank Comer Earney. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Oleta Spencer.
Alvin was a retired veteran of 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. He did a lot of wonderful wood carving in his shop, often making furniture. He loved all animals especially dogs and cats. He had worked in Freight Supply after retiring from the Air Force. Alvin knew the Bible front to back!!
Left to cherish his memories includes his loving wife of 58 years, Pamela Frost Earney; son, Brian Earney and wife Tammy; grandsons, Daniel and Benjamin Earney; brother Ted Earney and wife Patsy.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 26th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park with military honor by the U.S. Air Force and the Gaston County Honor Guard.
