Alma Frances Wells Stone, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Brookdale-Robinwood with her loving family by her side. She was born in Gaston County on February 18, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Campbell Baxter Wells and Helen Skidmore Wells.
Alma attended Holiness Church of God. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was loved by so many and will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Billy Joe Stone; son, Billy Joe Stone, Jr.; 4 brothers, Jimmy Wells, LeRoy Wells, Donald Wells, Acy Wells; 1 sister, Annie Wells.
Alma is survived by her son, Mark Stone and wife Martha; daughter-in-law, Lucinda Hoyle-Stone; 5 brothers, Lacy Wells, Bobby Wells (Pat), Paul Wells, Larry Wells (Carolyn), David Wells (June); 2 sisters, Joyce Hudson (Herman), Virginia Davis three grandchildren, Melissa Stevens, Matthew Stone, Brittney Stone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2021, at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021, in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Woodside Cemetery, Clover, S.C. with the Releasing of the Doves.
