Gastonia – William Alexander "Alex" Lyles, 24 passed away peacefully on August 6, 2017 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Sumter, South Carolina on January 5, 1993. Alex is preceded in death by his birth mother, Natasha Parker and his grandfather Richard Davis.
Alex was a member of The Salvation Army all of his life. He loved the outdoors, fishing and all animals. Alex enjoyed playing video games especially army games. Alex was an honorary member of the 505th Engineer Battalion of the North Carolina National Guard with the rank of Major.
Left to cherish his memories includes his loving family, his parents, Majors Jerry and Betty Craddock Lyles; his siblings Captain Scott Lyles (Michelle), Captain Chris Lyles (Elisa), Kayla Davis, Michael Lyles, Cameron Parker and Justin Parker; niece, Abby Lyles; maternal grandmother, Bonnie Davis.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 8th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at The Salvation Army, 1506 Union Road, Gastonia, NC with Captain Jonathan Raymer and Major Otis Childs officiating.
Interment will at Gaston Memorial Park with the releasing of the doves.
